Kickstart Activity #5-Images


This weeks challenge was to make the most of images in your posts.  As an avid reader of blogs and any random info, the pictures are the first thing that draw me in….and pictures are what I use to base most of my posts to my students.  Many of my students are visual learners so I generally utilize an image with an embedded external link as basis of each entry.  I generally keep the images big so they are more like a button rather than a little thumbnail image.  I will admit that I need to learn more about Creative Commons attributes and how to give credit where credit is due.

Anyway…following the criteria of the challenge, I created an image slideshow using Slide.  This is just a random selection of pictures I’ve taken throughout the year…and most of these pictures have been taken with my cellphone if you can believe it…always handy & always ready.   Enjoy!

    Very nice slideshow. You have a great cell phone that takes such pictures. My cell phone is dying, perhaps I should get one that takes pictures!

    What a great selection of photos! I have an iPhone but I am somewhat disappointed with the quality from mine. How did you like using slide? That was one of the first animated slideshows that I used and I still like its simplicity. if you want, you can add all sorts of other features. Thanks for sharing this post on images.

    Thanks Anne! I have an android phone and I find it can take better pictures than my own camera lol
    Your input is much appreciated and would like to see more ways that slide is utlized..I look forward to checking out other people’s use of it as well.

    Hi Carol,
    Thanks for visiting! I had trouble embedding the HTML code at first too. Was it the issue of copying & pasting? I found it was an issue w/the pre-set wordpress code. However, if you go to the bottom of the embed page on the left…it says “still can’t find what you’re looking for?” Click it and the regular HTML code is listed…highlight, copy, & paste in the HTML section of your blog post. This should work….good luck & stop by again :-)

    Hi, I really like the look of your blog! I think that it is great that you can reach out to different kinds of learners in different ways from the same post, or presentation just using different kind of media!

    Thanks for the Slide resource – it’s a new one for me. I really like your blog and your use of media to reach all types of learners. I think Gardner would be proud!     Hey Serge, I’m glad you found the resources to be helpful! I really do enjoy using my website as an announcement board & have my posts feed into twitter & my facebook fan page for The Learning Pad ….that way there are no excuses for students not knowing what the HW is, or when a test is coming up…or even when an activity is posted to help them review.
